Brendon Energy was originally developed by a group of local residents concerned about the threats of depleting global oil and gas supplies (‘peak oil’) and the impacts of climate change, and committed to developing the capacity of our local communities. These included Gareth Hoskins, Mandy Johnson, Geoff Johnson and Iain Beath, who were founder Directors that set up Brendon Energy and launched the first share offer. Dave Mansell was co-opted to the board soon after. Gareth, Iain and Dave stood for the first elections to the board in March 2012 when all three were elected. Richard Brunning was co-opted to the new board in May 2012. At the first AGM in October 2012, Dave stood down and Richard Brunning and James Grischeff were elected. Subsequently, Mark Ogden and Tony Baker were co-opted to the board. Mark resigned in April 2013, due to moving from the area and James resigned, due to work commitments, in May 2013. Tony Baker and Sandra Aldworth were elected at the 2013 AGM. Tony stepped down in 2019 for family reasons. Adrian Tait was elected at the 2015 AGM after being co-opted earlier in the year. Simon Ratsey was co-opted onto the board in 2016 and stepped down in 2020 to spend more time with his family. Sandra Aldworth was re-elected in 2020.
